Michael Strahan

Guest shark

Most people know Michael Strahan from one of two things. Either they remember him terrorizing quarterbacks for the New York Giants, or they see him every morning on Good Morning America. The fact that he’s managed to be elite at both of those very different careers is pretty wild.

Strahan played 15 seasons with the Giants. All 15 with the same team. He set the NFL single-season sack record with 22.5 sacks in 2001, a record that still stands. He went out on top too, retiring right after the Giants upset the undefeated Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. And in 2014, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Then came the second act. He moved into television, first as a football analyst, then as a talk show co-host, and eventually landing a spot on Good Morning America. He’s won multiple Daytime Emmy Awards along the way. Going from sacking Brett Favre to chatting with celebrities at 7 AM is a pretty dramatic career pivot, but Strahan makes it look natural.

On Shark Tank he shows up as a guest and brings a different energy than the typical tech or finance shark. He knows what it takes to build a personal brand, he understands licensing and media, and he’s been on both sides of endorsement deals.

Some career highlights:

  • Super Bowl XLII champion with the New York Giants
  • Pro Football Hall of Fame, inducted 2014
  • Multiple Daytime Emmy Awards for his television work
